Fog and Thoughts (1976)

The lawyer Mario, home because his flight was canceled due to the fog, finds his wife Francesca resting and realizes that a person is hiding in the closet. Convinced that he is her lover, he locks the closet quietly and the next morning he leaves with her on a long journey to Italy, with the aim of discovering her identity. Every friend he meets and every memory reinforces thoughts of infidelity in him. Back in Milan at the end of the long trip, they discover that the person locked up in the closet is the porter’s step-son. Mario leaves for that business trip, postponed to the beginning of the film due to bad weather, with his mistress beside him and continuing to rethink his wife’s alleged infidelities.
